Extended Family

We share two nieces which means we have been apart of each others lives for almost 14 years. It's always a treat for me to photograph kids and families that I know well. At first there can be some awkwardness because people don't always know what to do when a camera comes out (that isn't also a phone. lol).

This session was also extra special because it was just mom and her girls. Family of three.

Best place to do "family" photos??? How about a park and a bridge that has awesome ice cream at the end of it!

Off we went down a bridge on a very warm, windy fall day. M was first. She was talking a mile a minute, until I put the camera up...then just a smile on her face. So afraid to not smile, at one point she said "I don't know if I can keep smiling". So super cute!

She was worried about the wind and her hair. M looks beautiful in the sunshine.

At one point I hear "this is a good spot for a photo!" How could I resist when her smile was spot on each and every time!

The whole session I ran around attempting to capture the adorable three year old, sweet little N. Once she found out we were headed to the park, she was over excited! But to try and capture a photo in focus was a fun challenge.

From the tire swing to the slide, back to the swing, off to climb on anything and then back to mom's leg to make sure she was still there. Then back off to some more fun.

She did stand still a few times for a split second. But just a second because WE WERE AT A PARK!!

One quick ride on the tire swing and a promise of ice cream and a quick tri, we were able to convince the kids to sit for a few photos with mom.

And a red sucker to tide N over for a few moments.

During all of this fun, Lacey the dog was the most well-behaved pet! She didn't always want to sit for her photo, but oh my goodness, no barking, no running away, nothing! She was just happy to be at the park!

As the sun began to drop, the air began to turn into a crisp breeze and the kids started to realize they were hungry, I convinced mom it was her turn for a photo. She was reluctant at first. Her oldest cheering me on in my argument as to why its important for an individual shot of her.

Mom's are special. They are there when we are sick to take care of us. To hold us when we are scared or sad. To share in our excitement and are our biggest cheerleaders. All moms are beautiful especially in the eyes of our kids. And this mama is no different.

Brave. Strong. Loving. And the best mom these two girls could ever have. She is their world.
